With a newfound trigger of photosensitivity, I am subject to vulnerabilities that include computer screens, extended time staring at my cell phone, and bright flashes. This is certainly not a negative attribute, however. The biggest vulnerability of my generation is technology. Our Achille's Heel is leading lives behind the screen and turning our backs to the beauty of what is happening in this very moment. The trigger of photosensitivity is something that we should all tend to because there is a trend in all of us, an urgent demand to keep updated with those around us, our eyes glazed to pieces of plastic. Instead of scrolling through pages and pages of social media, turn the page - literally! Read a book, enjoy nature, listen to a great album, give your eyes a break! Being a college student, sticking to this regimen will not be easy as most of my assignments are done virtually. Yet there is nothing that is more important than proper health, than knowing my own body better than anyone else. Photosensitivity is a trigger, but so are many other culprits. The key is to minimize the culprits, tend to the triggers, and find the beauty of living fully and presently.
